Hi, I mainly fish lakes and ponds located in Franklin, Essex, and St. Lawrence Counties in the northern portion of the Adirondack Park. During my fishing trips, I often run into other people fishing and usually all sorts of information is exchanged concerning fishing in our region. I thought it would be beneficial to fishermen to exchange informatiion and also draw more traffic to my website. Email me by clicking on the contact tab and I will be glad to post any news that pertains to fishing in our area. Especially when the fishing is slow, I like to include news about conditions here at the lake. (Scroll down)

10/1 - It actually snowed yesterday on my way to Saranac Lake!!! I took many photos of the foliage, but total cloud cover and rain most of the time. Stopped at Blue Line Sport Shop and purchased a fishing license....$29...wow, that is quite jump in price. Maybe the fishng will be better next year?? The DEC must have made a lot of cuts because I wasn't checked for a license once this summer. Last year, I was checked many times. Started a fire last night...probably got down in the 20's.
10/2 - For the third year in a row, the splake and landlocks are not gathering in their usual location here at the Lake. As of a few days ago, the landlocks had not yet congregated in their usual Fall locations on any lake or pond that I know. I haven't been back since the temperature fell off the bed so maybe they will be there now, but it doesn't look like we have any decent weather until Monday. Nikki's birthday was yesterday...9 years old. I'm not real optimistic that her ACL surgery is going to make much difference. She is still very lame.
10/3 - Woke up to clear skies and sun...but around noon the wind picked up and clouds rolled into the area. By late afternoon it was raining again. When tried to go out in big boat in the morning, the battery was dead and would not take a charge!!! Sears DieHard...same thing happened last year!!!! A real pain in the butt taking the battery back to Sears Store in Massena. So now I have two batteries that are not taking charges properly and I thought batteries were suppose to be getting so much better with the auto industry doing so much research. Cleaned out rain gutters and cut down some of the flower gardens. Well water is starting to take on that sulfur smell again..somebody has contaminated the vein. So I will have to sterilize it again. Need to buy some chlorox. Would love to go to a pond today, but without a battery that will be fully charged and a good chance of wind and rain, I think I will wait until tomorrow.
10/4 - The mix of shade, sun, wandering thunderstorms and Fall foliage made the fishing trip all that much more enjoyable until I returned home to a plugged septic system!! Wind was a bear, but didn't get wet and managed to catch a couple legal landlocks. Friend just called and wants to go again today...me...I'll be playing with crap!!! Then Eli...Sanchez...and Jimmy Johnson.
10/5 - My birthday today...thought I would spend a day on a pond, but think I will wait until tomorrow...rain less likely and reduced wind speed. Had landlock fillets for dinner last eve...delicious. Friend called and wanted to go again yesterday but I stayed home and worked on septic system. Saw someone water skiing yesterday..wet suit...but still had to be cold. I think there is going to be at least 5 camps occupied here this Winter. No cars in the Lake Clear Beach parking area when I went past....not sure if this means the salmon aren't coming into that area this year. With only 10 days left to the season, I have to get going. LOL
10/6 - Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes. Rain, wind and cool kept me at bay....but had a new metal roof put on boathouse, two boards replaced on the dock and my bobcat mount was attached to beam in living room finally. Only 10 days left until fishing season closes, so will concentrate on that and then must replace the woodstove before winter...the old Vermont Casting stove that was here when we purchased the camp just isn't as air tight as I want...plus I would like to be able to load bigger chunks of wood so that I don't hurt my old body LOL. Heading to a pond today...not sure where because I haven't heard if the brook trout are staging in their breeding locations yet.
10/7 Went to Hoel Pond yesterday. Managed to avoid rain but wind was a bear, especially because of cool (mountainman) temp. Lake Trout still not in shallow water locations where I have been told they gather in the Fall. Smallmouth bass are still biting and suckers are hitting flies. A couple of friends went to Green Pond so will be interested in hearing how they did. Fished from a collapsible boat yesterday..really neat...especially when the bladder is full if you get what I mean. Saw a bunch of cars in Lake Clear parking area, but I don't think they were fishermen...also saw moving trucks and tents. Someone told me the browns were biting in Poliwog Pond.
10/8 We had torrential rains and wind gusts up in the 40's yesterday afternoon, so the landscape will look much different today. Wanted to head to a pond today, but as of right now the wind is still way too strong to enjoy being on th water with the Radisson. As I drove to SL yesterday, the sun broke out in places, but photo opportunities were far and few between. Can't believe that I never found an opportunity to climb Mt. Azur. The fact that my dog had ACL surgery had a lot to do with that...but the crappy weather we have been having is the main reason. When the sun did break out, there was so much humidity in the air that visibility would have been very limited.
10/9 Cold wind kept me home yesterday but a couple of friends went to their favorite speckle pond. They didn't have much luck but did catch a few. Another person went to a beaver pond and said that both sperm and eggs would drip out of the fish as they removed them from their hooks. Rain and cold today...I'm staying home again...maybe tomorrow.
10/10 - Lynn had an eye appointment and did some grocery shopping yesterday. I stayed home and organized, deleted, edited, and backed up a lot of photos...barely scratching the surface. Winds kept me home. Brookies are staging but just not biting. Continues to rain with wind here. Garbage day and then not sure.
10/11 - Good chance of snow in early morning. Friend who leaves for Florida soon actually braved the elements yesterday...white caps on the pond...nearly froze to death with the wind chill factor...not a single bite!!!! Good reports coming out of Green Pond...splake are biting in shallow water...wind blown shoreline. Not much happening with brook trout...small ones are biting but larger ones are elusive. Leaves are coming off trees quickly now.
10/12 - Went to Green Pond yesterday. Not the easiest place to get your boat from car to water but often worth the effort. Just as I got on the water, the sun went in and a chilly breeze came out. I got a double soon though, both browns in the 18" range. Caught a couple of landlocks in the 12" range and kept two splake that were both only 15" but thick and will get good fillets off them. I didn't stay long because I wasn't all that warm even though I had on my winter long underwear. Glad I went though, because the weather for the rest of the week looks absolutely miserable. Temperatures aren't suppose to break 40 and when I just let the dog out to do her nightly thing....snowing. Fox News said leaves were at peak yesterday...huh..they are practically all on the ground!!!
10/14 - Heading to Saranac Lake this morning. Hope all their snow has melted. Just looked at weather for next two days...too cold to fish. Need to get to Sears so I can replace my Sears DieHard cranking battery for boat so that I can get it trailered for Winter. Two years in a row..Sears Diehard batteries....died and won't recharge!! I'll bring camera today, but the foliage is 80% past due. Everyone is telling me that there is no need to rush taking the boat out of the water...more nice weather ahead, but I look at the weather reports and just don't see it.
10/15 Well, it is here. The last day of fishing season 2009. I have a list of things to do longer than my arm...unfortunately one of them is not to go fishing today. But that is because it is 18 degrees out right now and not suppose to break 40 today. So today I will go to Massena and return Diehard(ly) battery, get a new tarp to cover boat, fuel stabilizer, and I am sure there will be a few more things. Well water has been contaminated again...probably by someone closing camp up...so that has to be treated. Sump pump in septic holding tank won't shut off. Tracker needs wheel bearings and brakes. Tacoma needs oil change and maintenance check. I have an awful feeling..winter is coming early...mountains were covered with snow yesterday.
10/16 - Happy Birthday Mom. She would have been 86 today. Took the Diehardly Battery back to Sears in Massena. Took them 1.5 hours to test it and tell me that it was no good...then only a minute to tell me that they did not have a replacement in stock so that I would have to drive back NEXT week to get it. This is two years in a row....my advice...don't buy a Sears Diehard Platinum Deep Cycle Marine Battery!!!! Bought the wife a new vacuum cleaner yesterday...she has been asking for one for a long time..I kept telling her that there was nothing wrong with the one we had, but she insisted...and I just held my ground. Well, for about the past month, guess who has been doing all the sweeping and vacuuming??? LOL You talk about stupid..LOL I can only pray that she has not made the connection that "men can vacuum".....if she has..I'll just start vacuuming when her favorite show is on TV, or not do a good job, or vacuum up the cat,...something....LOL Fishing season closed on the ponds...sob...no more fresh brook trout dinners until Spring 2010.
10/17 - I always used to say that the weeks went by fast when I was a teacher...man, they go by much faster in retirement. Decorated bobcat mount with plants, assembled Lynn's new vacuum cleaner, assembled leaf blower...how cool is that...I can't believe I waited until 2009 to buy one of them...I cleaned walkways, putting green and blew leaves up driveway...awesome. Cleaned ashes and started new fire in woodstove. Opened well and treated with chlorox...long job sterilizing all plumbing in house without killing bacteria in septic system. Filled wood supply in house. Took down golf driving net. Dusted all my mounts with new duster on vacuum cleaner. Lynn went to town and picked up new glasses and did shopping that I could have done in an hour...something wrong with this picture. Friend went to Mountain Pond..no fish in lower end and froze his arse off!!!
10/18 - Discovered that my favorite camera doesn't like the cold yesterday...this is not good. Didn't accomplish much yesterday...garbage. burrs out of the dog, a little dusting, and wood. Watched some great college football games and the Yankees last eve. Today I tackle the shed...organize it to make more room for junk. Can't complain about the weather...looks worse South of us. I guess brook trout (Windfall) will be trapped in both Mountain and Black Ponds this year for eggs...good move.
10/19 Happy Birthday Brent...sunny here..suppose to actually reach 50!! Took everything out of the wood shed yesterday and cleaned the tool shed. Today will move stuff around so that I can put wood in the wood shed...much easier for those winter days when snow covers the wood pile. I cleaned the rain gutters out so will remove them today when it warms up. Took two truck loads of leaves out of here. Replaced line on weed wacker. Will put Sears battery they loaned me in boat today and take it for a ride. Will also check air pressure in Tacoma and Tracker.
10/20 Just received notification that one of my photos published by Adirondack Life Magazine won a gold medal from the International Regional Magazine Association. Quite an honor for both AL and myself. Spent most of yesterday putting wood into the wood shed...about half done. I can't believe all the construction going on up here. Another big leaf falling day. Could have gone to Mountain Pond yesterday but think I may put away the fly rods instead.
10/21 Thank you to everyone for all the "congrats" on the photography award. As it turns out, it was even a bigger deal than I first thought. The photo was chosen as the best individual photo in all of the 2008 issues published by all of the quality regional magazines that belong to this Association. Cool huh. I continued to put wood into the shed yesterday and split logs that are too big for woodstove. Now, my left wrist is just killing me. Cleaned up more leaves yesterday..took down the rain gutters...adjusted air pressure in all tires..worked on chainsaw...
Today I head to SL...be good to give my wrist a break. Can't get anyone to look at my septic system pump switch.
10/22 Warning buoys off the lake and camp owner signs are down. Went to SL yesterday. All bodies of water were very still so took some nice reflection shots of Tamaracks. Most leaves, except the beeches of course, are off the trees. Have been pounding Advil for my left wrist which I must have sprained swinging the axe so much the other day. Suppose to rain all day today. Will call TJ's and get appt. and must call Sears about battery today.
10/23 - Damn Sear's battery did not arrive at store????? I'm not sure what is happening with that company..something is up because many items I buy from Sears aren't holding up and brand names on appliances don't seem to mean much. They have these costly extended warranty and maintenance contracts and then takes forever to get appliances serviced and even worse, repaired. I'm going to cancel my contracts and buy new appliances somewhere else next time they need repair...cheaper that way and maybe..and I do mean maybe these days because to get anything done right (sometimes even done!!) seems almost impossible. My left wrist is still killing me so stacked some wood yesterday one handed. In the 50's yesterday but threatening rain all day. Much cooler today with snow dusting last night. Leaves almost all off trees now. Getting excited to see the brook trout netted by DEC to obtain eggs for next year's stocking.
10/25 - Wild day yesterday for several reasons. NUMBER 1 - RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT MY ONLY ENTRY INTO THE NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION'S 2009 ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST (EARLY RISER) WON FIRST PLACE IN THE "OTHER WILDLIFE DIVISION". The photo will be published by them in their Nov-Dec issue of their magazine and on their internet website. The photo could also be used by them for other purposes in their publications. Nice cash award comes with the first place honors. Received many congratulatory notes yesterday but couldn't respond...electrical service was on and off all day and internet was out all day. So thanks to all that took the time to write...it means so much to hear from friends and customers. I am thrilled to receive both awards last week. I can remember when I was young and I would come to a question on a job application I was filling out, "Any previous experience?" Basically the same situation for photographers, only now the question is "awards and publications". My list of each continues to grow. Thanks again.
10/26 - High winds all day yesterday kept me off the water. At least we didn't lose power again. Watched football and Nascar, but spent most time organizing Summer photos and email. Lynn is suppose to go grocery shopping today and I have not heard back from Sears about battery. I'm discouraged with their service. I also have contacted 4 different people/businesses that my septic system holding tank pump's float switch will not work and NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM INCLUDING 2 THAT INSTALLED IT, HAVE MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO FIX OR EVEN LOOK AT IT!!! I'm beginning to think people just don't want to make money around here...at least not during deer hunting season LOL.
10/27 - Continued to move wood from pile to shed for winter and to determine if I have enough to last. Looks like some warm weather for remainder of week. Heading to Mountain/Black Ponds today to observe the netting of Windfall brook trout for eggs. No call from Sears about battery...I just can't believe the poor service. Thank you to everyone that congratulated me on the awards for photos. I have had so much positive feedback on photos taken this Fall..not just trout photos. I really appreciate your response and orders. I didn't get into photography for an income. My first goal was to make enough to upgrade my camera and lenses to allow me to take professional quality photos when and if the opportunity presented itself. I ruined two cameras in the rain, snow, and cold last year and was ripped off by a shady NYC company I dealt with on the internet. I also took $500 and donated it toward a scholarship for a graduating senior at my Alma Mater, Saranac Lake Central High School. With money being tight for just about all of us, orders have been slow especially via this particular website which cost $240 per year. I have the site paid up until the end of this year, but at that point, if I don't receive enough orders through this ifp3 site, then I will not renew.
10/28 - Went to see the netting of Windfall brook trout yesterday at Mountain and Black Ponds done by the DEC to obtain fertilized eggs for hatcheries to raise for stocking next year. Last year they had to work in a snow/cold rain storm. This year it was much nicer, but the number of eggs fell short of the 20,000 they were hoping for so they kept the nets in for another night and will check again today. Mountain Pond continues to produce small trout and the nets are loaded with bullhead. This year a new species showed up...golden shiner. Mountain Pond is special trout fishing water and NO LIVE BAIT is suppose to be used..only artificial lures...all catch and release. So now there is both common shiners and golden shiners in this pond that provides eggs for STOCKING ALL THE OTHER BROOK TROUT PONDS IN NYS. Last year the DEC couldn't stock many brook trout because of the poor egg and sperm take from Mountain Pond. I find it hard to believe that fishermen would sabotage this pond. I will tell you right now...there aren't many big brook trout in Mountain Pond. If you don't believe me, go there today and see what they get in their nets. Not one brook trout I would even consider keeping on other ponds I go to...if they are long enough..so thin that I couldn't even get a decent fillet. There were at least 1500 bullhead in their nets yesterday....they aren't even big. Now the brook trout will have to compete with shiners for food. Hey, using worms or grasshoppers is wrong but at least they aren't going to compete with the brook trout for food. I'm just disgusted with the people that are using minnows in Mountain Pond!! I actually was disappointed with the netting at Black Pond also. The trout were bigger and thicker in Black, but not that many and they mainly had already spawned so few eggs were obtained. The trout in Black were not nearly as dark red/orange as those in Mountain.
10/29 Steady light rain all day yesterday certainly limited photo ops to and from my drive to Saranac Lake. Passed DEC teams heading back to Black and Mountain Ponds for second day of netting to obtain more fertilized heritage Windfall brook trout eggs for hatcheries to raise for next year's stocking. There have been so many people laid off from the DEC that I fear that many programs will not be maintained. I suspect that the second day of netting did not do so well because they were not at Mountain Pond when I returned from SL which means that they had picked up the nets and headed back to Ray Brook. I want to thank Rich Preall for taking time to answer questions concerning the day's procedure and the DEC in general. I took a drive down the wooded Slush Pond Rd in hopes of seeing an animal of interest but that didn't happen. Still like the "forest primeval".
10/30 - Fog and mist most of yesterday. Was going to go to Mountain Pond...but glad that I didn't. May go today if weather is better because it is suppose to get up into the 60's. Spent most of yesterday splitting wood that is too big for woodstove and raking leaves. Someone discharged a gun near shoreline across lake..not good. Second day of netting at Mountain Pond produced a lot of eggs. DEC is happy with this year's egg take for the Windfall brook trout. This is good for us fishermen that rely on the restocking of ponds each Spring or Fall.
Halloween - Went to Mountain Pond yesterday. Winds picked up soon after I lanched my canoe. The wind was so bad that I left after only an hour. Caught two small brook trout using a black-nose dace streamer. 90% chance of rain today..windy right now. Garbage and work today.
11/1 - Battery is in at Sears. No word about septic pump. Weather looks to be getting much colder next few days. High winds again today...we only lost power for a few seconds last eve. I will take the boat out as soon as winds allow this week. Need to get a wood fire going again today. Once boat is out of boathouse I will be able to store more summer furniture and tools in there. Also need to get ATV to Canton for servicing.
11/2 - Off to see Dr. Schecter today to get skin checked and new design features biopsied. I have a real problem remembering to put sunblock on even if it is cloudy. I stay pretty well covered up but aging certainly comes with a price. Started a wood fire yesterday so now the cat is happy. Raked up leaves and cleaned off the putting green. Friend went to Connery Pond over near Lake Placid and said they caught a few browns. If weather allows, my next trip will be either Meacham or Lake Clear to try to catch some landlocks. May run to Massena after Schecter to get battery so I can get boat out of the water.
11/3 Started to get ready to go to docs and wife told me "Honey, not until next Monday!" Man she loves doing that LOL. Beautiful day so I headed to Lake Meacham. I was the only one on the entire lake. Tried in front of the beach like someone told me to do...splake there in the Fall. All I caught were perch...small perch. I think Lake Meacham might have a problem with these small perch. Also a warning posted that the Lake had an invasive species in it. Rain today, so plan to go get battery in Massena.
11/4 Much colder today..heavy frost this morning. Went to Dad's...seems to be a bit better today. Did a little shopping..stopped at Lakeside Deli for supper. Split a little wood...head to Massena tomorrow.
11/5 Wow, what a beautiful trophy buck I saw yesterday in the Paul Smiths area. I ran into a dense forested area, but I noticed something about 100 yards in to the woods when I drove by slowly. The buck had stopped and was looking back at me!! I could only tell this by using the magnification of my camera. Took some nice photos considering the distance, objects between the buck and I and the low light conditions. I sure hope that buck wasn't taking one last look at my Toyota Tacoma before it sped uncontrollably down the road with NO BRAKES..because of a faulty floor mat???? Come On...you are kidding right??? Definitely frost this morning.
11/6 Ground covered with snow this morning. Need to do the battery today and buy a utility trailer to haul ATV to be serviced in Canton. Decided that it won't fit in the truck..crap. Hope to go to see egg collection from Landlocked Salmon at Lake Clear Hatchery tomorrow.
11/7 - Went to Potsdam yesterday and bought a utility trailer so that I can now transport both my ATV and snowblower. Had to go to Canton to get it registered. Then got a haircut in Potsdam before proceeding to Massena to pick up the Sears Diehard Battery replacement for boat. Long day, but glad to get those things done. Today, Bill Spagnolo and I are suppose to go to Lake Clear Fish Hatchery to watch them take eggs from salmon. Roads were slushy yesterday and the Toyota Tacoma was not good...more like dangerous...must put some weight in the back and hope that helps. We have about an inch of snow on the ground here, but temperature is suppose to climb next two to three days...somebody told me 60ish on Monday..sweet...except that is my dermatologist appt day..LOL.
11/9 - Went to Fish Hatchery in Lake Clear on Saturday to watch the egg take from landlocked salmon. Thank you to Ed Grant (NYSDEC) for showing and describing the process. They want 1.2 million fertilized eggs for next year's stocking efforts in NYS. I was disappointed to learn that Lake Ozonia wasn't on the list to receive any of the large surplus salmon that will be stocked later this month. Many of the ponds on that list already have large (legal sized) salmon and trout in them. Here at Lake Ozonia the Winter ice fishing outlook is bleak. The chances of catching a legal sized salmon or trout here is almost zero..so if you do get one...might also be a good time to buy a lottery ticket too...because it is your lucky day. Ice conditions here the past two winters has been dangerous well into January. Took my big boat out of the water yesterday...figured with the nice weather..in the 50's, better do it while I could. Was quite surprised when I had no steering (without great effort)...made getting the boat on the trailer an interesting process!!! LOL
Would love to go fishing today..60...but I am off to the dermatologist. Not an appointment you want to cancel..took me over 4 months to get in and I have many concerns. Hope I don't look like a mummy when I come home...and pray all my biopsies turn up negative.
11/10 - Hour and a half in waiting room to see the doc yesterday...all my moles, etc turned out to be harmless...I did have my Gorbashev mole removed that as become ever increasingly visible on my forehead..sick of people asking about it LOL. Had to get a prescription filled at Kinneys...they said it would be an hour...waited the hour..walking around store...came back to counter and they told me it wouldn't be filled until next day. OMG Took Toyota in to be serviced...told them how disappointed I was with control on slush...told me to put sand bags over rear axle...like I didn't already know that. Temperatures climbed all day yesterday but very windy. A friend went to Mountain Pond the day before and caught and released several brook trout. Today I need to get ATV over to Canton to be serviced for winter plowing...guess I also have to get a float switch for septic holding tank because I can't get anyone to come and service it...not the persons that installed it nor the store that sold it. Sand or salt bags for truck and probably a new phone..people are constantly telling us that they can't hear us. Also should order 4 more cords of dry wood just to be sure we have enough. Boathouse cleaning, organizing and then filling to the max with junk will be my next big task. Still can't believe that Lake Ozonia is not getting any of the surplus salmon this Fall.
11/11 - Took ATV to Canton to be serviced...$200...plus time and gas....those guys are getting $78 per hour for labor!!!! They would have charged me $150 to come get and return my ATV for servicing so it won't take many years to pay for my utility trailer. Purchased a new cordless phone...many folks complaining they can't hear us using the old one. Also picked up a few groceries and an RX. Forehead a little sore from mole removal. Donna Mosier is going to sell camp on South End of the lake and build new one on lot next to us at her boathouse. I can't believe all the construction going on up here and not a permit in sight. Heading to SL today to see Dad. May take a pole and make a few casts somewhere. Happy Veterans Day...God Bless and Protect our troops.
11/12 - Went to SL to see Dad yesterday. All is well. Today must take Lynn to Potsdam for blood work, pick up glasses and do some grocery shopping. Tomorrow plan to head out early for fishing on either Meacham or Clear. May begin boathouse organization today. Suppose to be another clear and sun-filled day here. Visitors, hits, and sales have picked up tremendously recently....guess people like the national awards too.
11/13 - Friday the 13th!! Took Lynn into Potsdam yesterday for bloodwork and pick up glasses. We did some grocery shopping and I WENT TO POTSDAM PLUMBING SUPPLY AND GOT MY OWN MERCURY SWITCH FOR THE SEPTIC TANK!!! Now I have to figure out a way to attach to holding tank so that I do not have to climb down in there...yuck. Today is going to be the last nice day so I need to get out to fish someplace.
11/14 - Although very frosty yesterday morning, I loaded the Radisson and headed to Lake Clear where I was told the salmon congregate at the beach in the Fall. Also saw a couple of eagles on a deer carcass up that way a few days ago so thought I could get some photos. Well, Friday the 13th it was...deer carcass was gone...so were the eagles and thought I was fishing back in Lake Ozonia...I couldn't even find a fish in Lake Clear, at least in Lake Ozonia you might catch a 4" perch if you try long enough. Suppose to start raining late this morning and continue until Monday.
11/15 - Read the weather report yesterday..rain was suppose to start near noon so decided to get going on boathouse clean up, reorganization, and then storage of summer landscape material, kayaks, canoes, etc. Well, the rain started much easier..but still satisfied with what I accomplished and with temperatures up in the high 50's today..plan to finish the job plus get my plow to welder for some minor repairs. I need to get up to the Paul Smiths VIC this week. I hear with State cutbacks..that the director there may be leaving which means my contact is lost..probably the gallery photo display next summer too. That might be good for me..quite a bit of money to invest and not sure about how much photos sell there.
11/16 - Sunny yesterday but very cool due to strong wind. Stored hose for Winter..I have faith that the well won't get contaminated again now that there is less construction around the Lake. Split some wood, but can't make up my mind if I should get more...that is foolish..always err in the direction of too much. Swept off the putting green and even did a little chipping. If Winter is mildish...can keep the green cleaned off all year. Never did get a new woodstove. Need to put Tracker up for sale. Took plow to be repaired for Winter...rocks in the road are really tough on it.
Need to call about boat steering failure. Word from Mountain Pond is that brookies are biting but small fish.
11/18 - Sunny yesteday but cool...the frost never melted off sections of my putting green!!! Saw a bunch of crows and I think an immature bald eagle in the woods along Lake Ozonia Rd feeding on a dead deer I'd bet. They took off before I could stop the truck and get some photos, but now I know where they will be today when I get back from Saranac Lake.
11/19 - Suppose to get up into the 50s today with very little wind....soooooo, I will head to a lake...leaning toward Lake Colby...haven't been on that lake since I was a kid. Plus...be nice to get a shot of AMC so I can make a gift for them AND a friend owns property on that lake I have never seen. Came upon an immature bald eagle yesterday but when turned on my Canon quickly...the setting dial rotated by accident...it is a problem with Canon cameras and excited photographers. Check out my photos on redbubble.com..search bpelkey1.
11/20 - Called a friend that I used to teach with yesterday morning and asked him if he would like to go fishing with me at Lake Colby. He was excited and so we left around 9 AM. What a gorgeous day...sunny, no wind, and temp climbed into the 50s. We only had two bites...one was a big fish. Shocked to find out that Lake Colby was "turning over". The water was full of nutrients, a prolific algal bloom was taking place, and plants had been uprooted from the bottom and were floating all over the place. Obviously, fish were not biting but still a gorgeous day. Another friend went to Mountain Pond...caught and released four brook trout..nothing over 10 inches. NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION'S 2009 PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS ARE NOW POSTED AT http://nwf.org/photozone/. Check out "Early Riser". Raining hard with high winds here as I type at 6 AM.
11/21 - Entered a couple more photos onto the redbubble.com site. You still get a better product if you buy directly from me on this site. I like the feedback from the viewers and ease of buying on redbubble though. Here, I don't get many comments for some reason..probably ease of use factor again. Rain and high winds all day yesterday...tried to get the wife to go to casino for a couple of hours, but by the time she was ready..decided some other time. LOL Garbage day today...want to check out if eagles are still on Lake Ozonia Rd. Probably not...coydogs were howling in that direction for the past two eves.
